Hannibal: "Potage" Review

Hannibal continued to deliver a bold and thrilling story this week, as Abigail woke up and the questions around her escalated. David Slade returned to direct again this week (this show continues to be one of the best looking on network TV, by far), in an episode written by showrunner Bryan Fuller, along with Chris Brancato and David Fury – the latter a familiar name to genre fans for his work on series like Buffy, Lost, 24 and Fringe.

That opening dream/flashback with Abigail's taking her hunting and telling her that eating a dear "is honoring her. Otherwise it's just… murder," was a chilling nod to his thoughts on the people he killed. And Abigail's nightmare of touching one of her father's victims was a strong way of continuing with a big question raised last week by Jack: Was this a poor girl haunted by her father's crimes? Or by crimes she actually participated in, alongside him?
