Last Resort: Series Finale Review Jan 25th 2013, 02:00 Note: Full spoilers for the Last Resort series finale follow. A key aspect to the Last Resort series finale is accepting the circumstances under which it was made. The cast and crew found out the show was cancelled shortly before filming began on this thirteenth and final episode. The one upside was ABC gave them a rare opportunity for a TV show cancelled so early in its run, as they were allowed to finish their initial thirteen episode order, rather than instantly ceasing production - with the writers able to re-write this episode into a series finale. But obviously, when you are planning on this being episode 13 in a 22-episode season, with the hope of running for several years beyond that, it's not exactly easy to suddenly restructure everything in order use the one episode you now have left to oh-quickly resolve all the stories in play, especially on a show this intricate, with so many characters.
