Elite: Dangerous Closes in on Kickstarter Goal

Chris Roberts, creator of Wing Commander, blew people away in 2012 after raising more than 7 million dollars for his upcoming space sim Star Citizen. After Star Citizen's successful crowd funding launch, Frontier Developments decided to try to reboot its famous Elite franchise, starting a Kickstarter campaign for the new Elite: Dangerous.

Dangerous seeks to create a large open world for players to explore via a customizable starship, either alone or with friends. How you play is up to you, and your actions will alter the universe.

Since its start on November 5, 2012, Dangerous has gone on to accrue over 1.2 million pounds in pledges -- about 15,000 short of its ultimate goal. If you want to support a space sim where your decisions will help shape the universe, you can check out Frontier Development's Kickstarter.
