Man of Steel showed us that there's a way to have a morally complex Superman that isn't necessarily the same as the infallible Superman in your head or mine, yet when Scott Lobdell tries to do a similar thing here, it unhinges the story trying to be told. This Superman comes off more gruff than heroic, so you're never compelled to root for him. Plus, it doesn't help that the storytelling is as ungraceful as ever.
