In July 2012, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe patented a tablet controller for consoles titled "PlayStation EyePad," according to patent documents found by Gamechup.
The patent application reveals a controller with a tablet-like form factor; stereoscopic cameras at opposite corners of the controller would be used to generate 3D virtual buttons and game-pads. It also features illuminated edges that could be used for motion-controlled gaming, similar to what we saw on the PlayStation Move and top of the PlayStation 4 prototype controller.
