New Girl: "TinFinity" Review

Although we were teased about a ten-year anniversary between Nick and Schmidt in last week's episode of New Girl, it wasn't until tonight that we were introduced to the idea of a full-on blowout. With celebrations past incorporating a decided theme -- showstoppers like wood and paper among them -- it seemed only appropriate that their decade-long friendship be symbolized with the chemical sign for tin -- "Sn" -- or "Schmidt & Nick," as it were. Hence, "TinFinity." Brilliant!

This episode featured an especially strong arc for our figurative Bert and Ernie, who have continued to clash this season. Their friendship has always been somewhat of an anomaly on the show, but it was interesting to see the give-and-take between them in planning their tin-themed "masculine garden party." On the one hand, you had Schmidt with his iPad graph, personalized cardboard cutouts and "strongly worded emails" to his florist. Then you had Nick, who never quite grasped the concept of ordering party balloons.
