Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
As we head into the final three episodes of Ray Donovan, certain elements of the series have begun to crystallize. First, the initial marketing campaign for the show was not demonstrative of what Ray Donovan is really about. I've talked at length about the rather bumpy road to clarity that this series has been on, as multiple story threads and characters were introduced, abandoned, haphazardly picked-up again and altered.
Darryl is a virtual non-entity at this point, Ezra is M.I.A., and Terry's budding and complicated romance has been moved to the back burner. Abby seems to have momentarily forgotten about her issues with Ray - including his infidelity - and that she wanted more agency in their home life. As for Ray, he very quickly did an about face and decided that Tommy Wheeler - who absolutely should not be allowed anywhere near Conor nor any impressionable minds - is a perfectly fine influence on his boy.
