As we all know, the Ben Affleck Batman casting news took over the Interwebz following Warner Bros. announcement on Thursday. Nearly everyone has an opinion on that matter, and we've certainly been covering the news with some regularity, as it continues to dominate the conversation. The studio has been wooing the actor for the role for some time and he is reportedly signed on for multiple films.
The initial fan response was largely skeptical at best, however, and outright opposed in many cases. A petition to remove Affleck from the Man of Steel sequel, likely to be titled Batman vs. Superman, has been created. Joss Whedon, and former Batman stars Val Kilmer and Adam West added their two cents in a show of support for the actor and after a series of teasing tweets the day the casting was announced, comedian Patton Oswalt has written a post in defense of Affleck on his Facebook page. He also adds a pitch for himself as the Joker at the end.
