It was another busy episode of Mad Men this week, including the truth about Bob Benson revealed... for real this time. Well, most of it at least?
No, it wasn't "just" that Bob was hiding his homosexuality (if that's even the case?), but rather that Bob had fabricated his entire identity and resume. It was quite amusing as Pete noted he'd dealt with a situation like this before… and we of course know that blew up in his face when he tried to use it against Don. So, likely fearing another "Who cares?" reaction, Pete instead kept Bob's secret, but used it to gain some leverage.
It is interesting to see that Pete is not nearly as progressive about homosexuality as he is other social issues, but it's a smart touch – this is the 1960s and there are a lot of changes to come in our society, so for Pete to have forward-thinking ideas on one hot button topic but not all of them feels appropriate.
