Looking to expand its horizons, DreamWorks Animation is now getting serious about the TV business. In a brand new multiyear deal, DWA will be teaming with Netflix to release a slew of original episodic TV programs for streaming.
According to Deadline, the partnership calls for an astonishing 300 hours of original programming over the next five years, in addition to today's deal to make up to 1,100 half-hours for Germany's Super RTL, which DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg says "will give us a significant footprint across the global TV landscape." With the agreement in place, DWA is now on the fast track to becoming one of the biggest producers of Hollywood-caliber Internet content.
