BBC America is set to premiere their period-set procedural crime drama, Ripper Street, beginning on January 19 (the show is already airing in the U.K.).
The eight-part series is set in and around Whitechapel in London's East End in 1889, during the aftermath of the savage and still-unsolved Jack the Ripper murders.The series focuses on Inspector Edmund Reid (Matthew Macfadyen), one of the key investigating officers in the case who remains haunted by his failure to catch the notorious Ripper.
Reid heads up H Division, the toughest district in London's East End, as every new murder brings the fear that Jack could be back. Assisting Reid is Game of Thrones' Jerome Flynn as his right-hand man and muscle, Sergeant Bennet Drake and Alcatraz's Adam Rothenberg as Captain Homer Jackson, a former U.S. Army surgeon and ex Pinkerton.
