Today is the last day for employees of THQ's corporate headquarters and Darksiders studio Vigil. In a memo sent to all affected employees and provided to IGN, THQ explains that most benefits will terminate today, and whether or not employees will receive a severance package or pay for vacation days has yet to be determined.
"Today the Court approved the sale of several of THQ's assets," the memo begins. "While some THQ employees are expected to be offered employment by the new owners, some positions will no longer be needed under the company's new structure. We regret that your position is included in this latter category."
The memo explains that employees have until the end of the day to remove personal items from their desk -- after today "access to the building will be shut off" -- and that the final round of payroll will occur today. Health benefits will continue until January 31st, with the possibility for up to one more month via an outsourced insurance service. Life insurance coverage will also terminate today, as will short-term or long-term disability coverage.
