In case you missed the news earlier this week, the popular CG animated TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been effectively canceled. While there are still unaired episodes that will be released in some form or another, there won't be a an actual Season 6 for the series. In addition, the comedic series Star Wars: Detours has been put on indefinite hiatus as Lucasfilm reevaluates its TV projects now that Disney is prepping an entirely new movie trilogy.
But it's not all bad news for fans of Star Wars-themed TV. Lucasfilm hinted at the existence of an entirely new animated TV series, saying, "We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming. You can expect more details in the months to come."
