In this year's spring cleaning, Google announced today that the company will officially shut down its popular RSS service, Google Reader, on July 1st, 2013. Although the service is popular and still used by many, Google says that "over the years usage has declined."
Reader is not the only service to fall victim to Google's dramatic springtime purge. The company will also no longer provide support for the Google Voice app for BlackBerry, will phase out out the Google Building Maker, and will deprecate the Google Shop API for eventual shutdown in September. The company will also stop providing updates for Snapseed, the popular photo and filter app that Google acquired last September.
