Wargaming: What's Next for Chris Taylor, Next-Gen

Wargaming.net has grown in the last three years from 100 employees in a few places to more than 1,500 in locations that span the globe. The company recently acquired Chris Taylor's studio Gas Powered Games. It's on the verge of releasing it's second free-to-play multiplayer game World of Warplanes, and just announced a mobile version of World of Tanks this week. In short: it's doing a whole hell of a lot.

The beginning of 2013 was not been kind to Gas Powered Games. After major layoffs and a failed Kickstarter, it seemed inevitable that the studio would shut its doors for good. But that changed when Wargaming came in and purchased them entirely.

"It's like a ship wreck on an island that no one's discovered full of treasure and gold," said Taylor, "First of all you're really upset that your captain can't navigate, that your rudder broke, or whatever the reason was -- the storm, we'll blame the storm. But the storm that we survived absolutely delivered us to a great destination."
