I thought this was a great episode. It was the first episode this season that felt 100% "natural," if that's the right word. It didn't feel like there was an attempt to be Community; it just felt like Community. It also was the funniest episode so far this season by far.
The title had me wary going in, because they were returning to the "Abed is making a documentary" well for the third time. But this was one of those rare part three's that delivered, with a very different feel than Season 2's "Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking" or Season 3's "Documentary Filmmaking: Redux."
This was also Ken Jeong's best episode in quite awhile. He was front and center for much of it and I know his comedy isn't for everyone, but I found myself laughing a ton at Chang this week. His (purposely) forced, bright-eyed innocence to the world around him was great, from the visual of his big, grinning face spinning around in the "science" portion that opened the episode to his new puns, which included saying Shirley's sandwich shop is, "Where the food is kevinly." Which makes total sense, since, as we learned, Changnesia, "affects the memory and not the ability to make forced puns."
