The implications of the Veronica Mars movie actually happening thanks to Kickstarter are pretty huge. No, it doesn't mean we're suddenly going to get every cancelled cult TV series ever getting an instant revival. There are obviously a lot of obstacles to get past in any of these scenarios, especially when major studios own these series and characters. But it's obvious that plenty of people are paying attention to Veronica Mars coming back in the way it did and several notable actors and writer/producers have openly been tweeting and writing about the situation this week, pondering if it might be a method to wrap up a story they're itching to return to. There are a lot of TV series out there with small but dedicated fanbases with similar scenarios where a studio doesn't see enough of an incentive to revive the project on its own… but with fans actively helping get it off the ground, well, that's another story.
