It's no surprise that a Damon Lindelof project would be surrounded in mystery, but some new hints about Disney's upcoming film Tomorrowland, starring George Clooney, were provided at D23 today. The film teams Lindelof with director Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), who appeared together today to discuss the film.
Lindelof and his frequent collaborator J.J. Abrams are known for their love of the "mystery box" concept, so it's amusing that Tomorrowland -- or at least the backstory we're being given for the film -- literally centers on a mystery box. A video shown today included various Disney historians and Imagineers, along with Lindelof and Bird themselves, discussing a box found in the Disney archives simply marked "1952", which had a number of odd items in it.
