Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...
At this point in Season 6, with "**** the Pain Away," we've reach the halfway marker. And things are more cockeyed and random that ever. Warlow has now been transformed into a misunderstood, hunky hero, Jason and Lafayette are no longer a part of the stories they were in for the first four episodes of the season, and Jessica is now lost down some frustratingly awful religious rabbit hole where she, in a single-scene snap decision, now thinks Bill is the devil.
Meanwhile Eric, who's usually good for an awesome moment or two, has managed to walk right into Governor Burrell's hands with no plan regarding what to do next. He's thousands of years old, which gives him a leg up in any vampire vs. vampire competition they might throw at him, but that's supposing that there will always be competitions. What's stopping Burrell from just shooting him with one of those new anti-vamp guns (which Eric knows they have)? Or just opening the roof and letting the sun flood in the room? At least this episode gave us a moment where Burrell actually chastised Eric for his dumb plan of sending Willa back to home as a vampire. Eric just couldn't believe that his ploy to win over Burrell's heart with a newly made savage vampire didn't work. And now he has to face off against Pam. Which is a cool moment, until you start thinking about the logistics.
