Earlier today, the Visual Effects Society (VES) announced its nominees for the 11th Annual VES Awards, which includes categories for film, animation, television, commercials and video games. And there's no doubt about it, 2012 was a huge year for the VFX industry.
Leading the nominations for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects-Driven Feature Motion Picture are The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Marvel's The Avengers, Prometheus, Life of Pi and Battleship. Animated contenders include Brave, ParaNorman, Wreck-It Ralph, Rise of the Guardians and Hotel Transylvania.
For TV, nominees include Game of Thrones: "Valar Morghulis," Once Upon A Time: "The Stranger," Falling Skies: "Worlds Apart," Curiosity and Munsters: "Mockingbird Lane."
