The ride thus far on Green Lantern Corps has been acceptable but unremarkable, but now Peter J. Tomasi brings together a slew of plot lines that amount to more than the sum of their parts. Guy Gardner's expulsion from the Corps and his feud with his family are given the spotlight, while John Stewart continues to get the shaft. Although, when Guy's story is this good it's hard to have that complaint.
John's quest to restore Mogo is so detached from the tension, emotions, and themes going on in Guy's story that it makes you glad it only takes up four pages. Everything else is gravy. New Green Lantern Simon Baz makes an appearance with a personality that is not unlike Guy's but is different enough that the friction in their scenes is a highlight of the book. It also shows how much of a true hero Guy is even without the ring as he impresses with his tactical skills and makes a hero's stand.
