Director Mark Romanek Exits Disney's Cinderella

Apparently the glass slipper isn't a match for Mark Romanek. The One Hour Photo director has officially exited the live-action remake of Disney's Cinderella, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

"The Walt Disney Studios and Mark Romanek have parted ways on Disney's Cinderella project," the studio said in a statement. "We are committed to moving the project forward and have begun the search for a new director. The team here at Disney respects Mark as both a director and a friend, and we hope to find something to work on together in the future."

No reason was officially given for Romanek's departure, although speculation has it that it's because Romanek wanted to make a darker film than Disney was comfortable with.
