I met Siike Donnelly on one of my many trips into the Los Angeles comic book store Golden Apple Comics, the shop I more often than not acquire my weekly dose of comic bookery. He was a genuine, passionate guy, and I simply couldn't stand idly by and not let him tell all of you the same story he told me.
Right now, he's running a Kickstarter campaign for a graphic novel called Solestar, a creator-owned superhero that is inspired by the event that has come to define his adult life: surviving a brain aneurysm. His goal with Solestar is to fund the printing costs through crowd-funding, and with just under a week left, he's almost hit the $11,000 goal. The book will hopefully go on to raise money for brain aneurysm research. As a comic book, it's also an interesting project due to its jam-comic style: every page is drawn by a different artist, bringing the total number of contributors to over 60.
