Big Bang Theory: "Egg Salad Equivalency" Review

The Egg Salad Equivalency? My interest in this episode of Big Bang Theory was piqued based on the unusual name alone. What does egg salad have to do with the lives of four dorks and their surprisingly patient significant others? As it turns out, it the title springs from another of Sheldon's colorful analogies as the gang confronted their most fiendish opponent yet in Season 6 - gender politics.

The episode kicked off by renewing attention on the Penny/Leonard/Alex love triangle that has quietly been brewing for most of the season. And while that sounds like a recipe for laugh-free disaster, the writers quickly took things in a much different and more comedically fruitful direction. The crux of the conflict this week wasn't so much the perpetual problems between Leonard and Penny, but Sheldon's utter lack of tact and understanding of the opposite gender. Admittedly, it was a bit of a stretch to see Sheldon exacerbate matters so quickly and thoroughly by turning to "Sheldon Cooper's Council of Ladies." Normally he just tunes out whenever the conversation involves romantic dilemmas. He certainly doesn't seek out the advice from the likes of Bernadette and Penny. But regardless, his quest to quiet Alex's raging ovaries resulted in a lot of laughs and some of the most memorable material from the entire season.
