When a book pops my eyeballs, tickles my brain, and leaves me wanting more like Batwoman #16, I'm only too happy to sing its praises. The title reaches another mountaintop, as co-writers J.H.Williams III and W. Haden Blackman explore the pandemonium of Medusa's attack.
The sense of chaos is palpable in this issue, with the majority of the book's characters wading into a city-spanning battle. The visuals are, of course, stunning. Williams' incredible layouts have come to define this series, but this book, in particular, sports some stellar work. The epic spreads expertly convey the story's frantic combat, and the panelized pages provide structure and pace between large format illustrations. Also – and this is no small point – I don't know who's responsible for pushing every ad to the end of the book, but they deserve a damn medal. I can't express what a joy it is to view Williams' work without interruption. In short, readers should prepare themselves for 20 pages of ocular orgasms.
