Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: "TCRI" Review

The plot thickened on this week's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as our heroes slowly revealed the true objective of the Kraang. The episode opened with a high-energy chase scene featuring the Kraang and a reprise of the Turtles' patrol buggy. Unfortunately -- and perhaps expectedly -- the Kraang made off with their coveted power cell. ("In Kraang's face!") I think it's also worth pointing out the couple pedestrians the boys had to avoid during this chase. Overall, the animators have stepped it up a little bit as far as incorporating human civilians into the fray, at least somewhat.

"TCRI" also saw the return of Leatherhead, who actually played a pretty prominent role this week. (It was good to see the writers had not forgotten about his penchant for grabbing Donatello by the face.) Initially, the mutant offered the Turtles their first clue to the location of the power cell: the prominent hexagon symbol. Aside from its vague resemblance to the Olympic rings ("The Olympics!"), we'd actually seen this emblem a number of times before -- in Baxter Stockman's Kraang tech and Metalhead, for example. Upon Donnie's comedically brief epiphany, the Turtles realized that the Kraang's portal was being kept inside the TCRI building, hidden right under their noses.
