Buddy Cops is a joke. It's an endless series of punchlines that has been mashed together and crammed into a single comic book. It never, ever, takes itself seriously, which is what makes it work. Buddy Cops certainly isn't the funniest comic on the stands -- not by a long shot -- but it gets points for gusto. If you are talking jokes per page, nobody comes close to Buddy Cops. It's unrelenting.
The comic itself is structured with a handful of cases, each a couple of pages, that involve two cops, one a by-the-book robot, the other a drunk, demoted space ranger dude. The cases basically serve as setups for jokes about being drunk, humping electronics, and cursing. Sometimes the jokes are funny, sometimes they aren't. Actually, a lot of the times they aren't. Writer Nate Cosby just keeps piling them on.
