Banshee: Season 1 Finale Review

Warning: Full spoilers for the Banshee: Season 1 finale follow...

Cinemax's Banshee wrapped up its first season the only way Banshee knows how - with an exciting maelstrom of blood and bullets. It'd been a fun 9 episodes - "10 to 12 weeks" TV time - since Hood started busting heads as Banshee's town Sheriff and now the final boss battle was upon us. And Hood, after initially escaping Rabbit's attempt to gun him down inside his office/Cadillac dealership, finally took responsibility for all he'd done and every wrong turn he'd made by offering himself up to Rabbit in exchange for young Max.

The first half of "A Mixture of Madness" played out a bit clumsily as the very idea of Hood surviving Rabbit's first attempt to kill him only to then almost immediately offer up his own life seemed needlessly roundabout. Also, even though it plays into this show's action movie roots, when do bad guys ever hit their target when they open fire on a building? That's a textbook henchman fail right there. Yes, you'll destroy all the windows, but the hero's gonna live. Now that's not to say that nothing came of the opening gun fight. Proctor's men entered the mix in the nick of time, saved Hood, and now hood owes that ex-Amish bastard his life.
