American Vampire Rises Again

One of the more disappointing announcements to come out of DC's Vertigo imprint this year was the news that Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque's American Vampire is going on hiatus. Issue #34 wrapped up the current storyline last January, and the series will remain off the shelves for a number of months so Snyder can focus on projects like Batman, Superman Unchained, and his upcoming mini-series The Wake. Even with so much in the pipeline for Snyder, the pain of American Vampire's absence remains.

Luckily, Vertigo has a new project that will help fill the void until the main series returns. Today they announced American Vampire: The Long Road to Hell. This one-shot special will be co-written by Snyder and Albuquerque and illustrated by Albuquerque. Tony Moore will provide a variant cover and the issue will be oversized. This one-shot, currently scheduled for June 12, will star the vampire hunter Travis Kidd.
