Breaking Bad Premiere Review

This is it. Are you ready?

The final eight episodes of Breaking Bad begin with yet another glimpse of the future - a bleak one in which the White's house is abandoned and a shambles and someone has spray-painted "HEISENBERG" inside it. Clearly someone's exposed Walt between where we are and Walt's -- err, "Mr. Lambert's" -- 52nd birthday. Walt goes back into the house to get the ricin (!). We get a chilling "Hello, Carol," and just as soon as the opening title screen ends, we're back to Hank on the toilet realizing that Walt, his brother-in-law, is the man he's been looking for all along.

These flash forwards are a distant cousin to Season 2 and the pink bear; there's no real game in this and less to figure out. It's refreshing, and probably what the series needs right now. We're just here to sit back on our couches and watch it all unfold.
