The Venture Bros.: "Bot Seeks Bot" Review

It's hard to believe we're nearly at the end of Venture Bros. Season 5 already. These eight-episode seasons certainly have their downside. Luckily, "Bot Seeks Bot" dialed the quality back up after the relatively weaker "Momma's Boys." It isn't the best episode of the season by any means, but it offered a fun glimpse into the lives of some of the biggest villains in the Venture Bros. universe. Naturally, the expose was somewhat less than glamorous.

This was easily the least Venture-centric episode in a long time. Hank, Dean, and Dermott were nowhere to be found, and even Rusty and Sgt. Hatred played very small roles. Instead, we got an unexpected but not unwelcome second episode to focus on Brock and the men and women of O.S.I. If nothing else could be said about Season 5, at least it's made up for the lack of Brock during both halves of Season 4. Spicing up the usual O.S.I. dynamic was a new recruit named Snoopy (played by guest star John Hodgman). His good-natured nerdiness was a fun counterpoint to Brock's machismo, Shore Leave's flamboyance, and Headshot's empty bravado.
