Between the release of his Pacific Rim and shooting his next feature Crimson Peak early next year -- not to mention his pilot for The Strain -- Guillermo del Toro is one busy dude. So it's no wonder he still hasn't seen Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, despite his early involvement in the development of the franchise. (The filmmaker left the project following MGM's financial crisis when their future was still uncertain.)
In a recent interview with Vulture, Del Toro revealed that he hasn't had time to see Jackson's An Unexpected Journey, nor The Desolation of Smaug. "I haven't seen the second movie," the director said when asked if any of his "controversial" designs for Smaug made the cut in Jackson's take. "I haven't seen the first movie, so I don't know. I've been busy making my own movies.
