And that's that.
Young Justice's final episode, "Endgame," was a mixed bag of rushing to tie up the season's remaining plot threads while also opening up new story points that we know now will never be resolved. But we also have such affection for these characters at this point that it's hard to begrudge the show too much… though the writers' killing off a major character, seemingly just to kill someone, makes it hard not to hold a grudge.
Yeah, they killed Wally.
Look, it's not an easy thing, I'm sure, making a season finale, let alone a series finale. (Though it remains unclear whether or not creators Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti knew that Young Justice wasn't coming back for a third season when producing this episode.) And of course you want to up the emotional ante of such a finale, but the problem with killing Kid Flash here is that we hardly even saw him all season. Surely one of the favorite characters for fans, Wally was absent most of year two, only to come back last week… and now to die. Now, I don't have a problem with writers killing off characters, but this really does feel a bit mercenary and manipulative.
