I know. You're shocked. Before Watchmen is the event that everyone loves to hate. Can it be that J. Michael Straczynski and Adam Hughes have delivered a story worthy of the original series? I say that they have. If you give this book even half a chance, I'm confident that you will as well.
Standing taller than the numerous memory-etching moments of Moore and Gibbons' Watchmen maxi-series was the realization that the outcome had already been decided long ago. It was all over. There was nothing you – or any of the characters – could have done about it, and don't you feel silly for thinking that there was? The whole story was based on a dramatic irony that was right in front of your face but just out of focus.
