Rune Factory 4 Headed West Feb 1st 2013, 00:23 XSEED has confirmed that Rune Factory 4 is headed to North America this summer. The game was announced back in February 2012 for a Japanese release, but today marks the first time it's been officially confirmed for the West. According to XSEED, Rune Factory 4 adds "new romance options, the ability to select a male or female character at the game's start, and has endless crafting, farming and cooking opportunities. The player becomes Selphia's prince or princess and can manage the village, explore the countryside with townsfolk, or tame monsters in the wild to aid them in battle or help out in the fields." Noobz DVD Review Jan 31st 2013, 21:50 Cody is a dick, Andy is the glue, Hollywood's a sham and Oliver might be gay. Together these Gears of War gamers must stick together in order to try and win $400,000 at the Cyberbowl Championship in Noobz, an earnest but fiercely flat indie comedy about gaming culture. Jeremy Piven-esque writer/director Blake Freeman, who also plays Cody, piles on tepid, tired gags in the vein of National Lampoon while trying to infuse Noobz with the deeper, wordier male-bonding aspects of Kevin Smith's View Askew films. Sometimes it feels like you're watching an unlikable frat boy romp and the next second it's Chasing Amy, with each side nullifying the other. Kevin Smith-player Jason Mews, surprisingly, gives us Mews-lite here, acting as possibly the least inept, dysfunctional member of his gaming "clan." Now, a job listing from Motorola has seemingly confirmed the project, making specific mention of the "X Phone," The Verge reports. Discovered by Phandroid, a now revised LinkedIn listing for a Senior Director of Product Management at Motorola sought a senior-level manager to help the company bring the device to market, including fostering carrier relationships for its eventual release. Hotel Transylvania Blu-ray Review Jan 31st 2013, 21:10 Hotel Transylvania hit late last year and has finally made its way onto Blu-ray after six long years in development. The end result benefits a great deal from the direction and style of animator/director Genndy Tartakovsky, who brings his definitive artistic flair and sense of motion to the 3D world that the film creates. It's not the best animated feature you'll ever see – and the excessive use of auto-tune and "this is so hot right now!" musical selections will most assuredly leave you wishing to be consumed by any one of the monsters that appear in the film – but it's an entertaining ride that has laughs for all-ages. The premise is simple and deceptively heartfelt; Dracula has built what is essentially a reclusive fortress for himself and his daughter Mavis, whose mother – Dracula's beloved -- was killed over a century earlier. Once a year, the old gang – including Murray the Mummy, Frankenstein and his wife Eunice, the werewolf couple Wayne and Wanda, Griffin the Invisible Man and more – gather at the Hotel to celebrate Mavis' birthday. Of course, Dracula uses the opportunity to reinforce how evil and hate-filled human beings are in an attempt to secure Mavis's safety forever, fearing she'll leave the nest to explore the world. When a young human shows up and hits it off with Mavis (let alone the rest of the hotel guests), antics ensue. Continue reading…

Vulture reports Disney's goal is "to keep the film on track to start shooting in London this fall." The film is still eying a 2014 release, although the title role has yet to be cast. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett remains attached to play the film's wicked stepmother.

While iOS users have enjoyed the security of Find My iPhone for some time, Sony is now planning to launch a similar tracking service for its Xperia smartphones. The Sony Mobile blog (via fonearena) published an interview with Sony Experience Planner Marcin Zielinski today, outlining the company's plans for "my Xperia." The service is nearly identical to Apple's Find My iPhone, providing a way to hunt down your missing Sony Xperia and remotely lock it, if necessary. Craig May Get Cut From Dragon Tattoo Sequel Jan 31st 2013, 20:37 There's a chance that Daniel Craig may not be back for The Girl Who Played with Fire, Sony's long-planned sequel to David Fincher's retelling of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Fincher is still in early talks to reprise directing duties on the film and Rooney Mara is set to return as series protagonist Lisbeth Salander. While Dragon Tattoo did modestly well, Sony wants the sequel done for less than what its predecessor cost. According to The Hollywood Reporter's sources, "the biggest holdup isn't Fincher's involvement but star Daniel Craig's. The studio has options on Craig for two sequels, but the actor is said to want a pay raise, not a cut, in the wake of Skyfall grossing $1 billion worldwide. If Sony can't bring Craig back to reprise his role as journalist Mikael Blomkvist, the sources say the studio could write the character out of the sequel. (A Craig source says negotiations have yet to commence but the actor wants to return to the role.)" Continue reading…
