The Venture Bros: "Momma's Boys" Review

One of the prevailing mysteries of The Venture Bros. surrounds the identity of the matriarch of the Venture clan. The current Hank and Dean may be the latest in a long line of clones, but some lucky lady had to contribute her eggs somewhere along the line. After a string of episodes that focused on everyone from Brock and the O.S.I. crew to Sgt. Hatred to Billy Quizboy and Pete White, Season 5 returned its attention to the core Venture family and the ongoing mystery of who gave birth to Hank and Dean. At the center of the various interconnected conflicts this week was Myra Brandish. This crazed, former O.S.I. agent is the lead candidate for being Hank and Dean's mother, and her new attempt to return the two boys to her creepy embrace formed the crux of the conflict this week. Had this season begun airing a few months earlier as originally planned, this episode might even have been conveniently timed with Mother's Day.
