If you follow this column regularly… first of all, thank you. Secondly, you might recall a few times in the past that I've dealt with the issue of death in superhero comics. First, there was Why Death Still Matters in Superhero Comics, which spun out of the death of Professor X in Avengers vs. X-Men. Then there was the recent A Fate Worse Than Death, which is sort of the other side of the coin, talking about why death isn't the only path to a status quo change for heroes.
Both pieces touch on the nature of death in comics – mostly that it's rarely ever permanent and how that's okay – but with superhero films becoming more and more interconnected with larger casts and bigger universes, could we ever see the revolving door of death hit the movies?
