The first round results of the Madden NFL 25 Cover Vote have been announced by ESPN SportsNation today, with players Barry Sanders, Joe Montana, Adrian Peterson, and Colin Kaepernick emerging as strong favorites.
The Cover Vote pits new-school football players against classics in a competition to determine who will grace the cover of the series' 25th anniversary edition. Joe Montana led the numbers in the old-school bracket, garnering some 640,000 votes. Meanwhile, Adrian Peterson is so far leading the new-school bracket, with 594,000 votes.
Round 2 of the voting has begun at ESPN's Madden Vote site, with a total of 32 players competing for the cover. Dedicated fans are encouraged to vote live on Twitter each Tuesday during the Cover Vote campaign; each Twitter vote will count as two. Double votes end at midnight, ET each Tuesday. The overall winner will be revealed on April 24.
