Send Self-Destructing Messages with Facebook's Poke App

Mimicking spy technologies fictionalized in films for years, Facebook has introduced a new time-limited messaging tool called Poke, allowing users to send text and photo messages that expire and erase shortly after being viewed. Reported by The Verge, Poke is available now on iTunes and is currently exclusive to iOS. Taking cues from existing apps like SnapChat, Poke users can send messages to other Facebook friends that expire at a set intervals of anywhere between 1 and 10 seconds. While a certain degree of privacy is enabled by the self-destructing messages, Apple's iOS tools currently offer no way to block users' attempts to take screenshots. To offer a small safeguard, however, Poke will recognize when a screenshot is taken and notify the sender.
