If the doomsayers are to be believed, Insomniac has "sold out," and Fuse is going to get lost in a sea of homogenous, colorless shooters. Insomniac remains as fiercely independent as ever, and it's that ideal, alongside Fuse's intelligent design and unique weaponry, that separates the cooperative shooter from the stigma.
First things first: reports of a lack of color are greatly exaggerated. In light of the outpour of fan feedback following the trailer in September, the team went back in to really make the colors pop according to Insomniac CEO Ted Price. "We wanted it to look like a world that could never exist, but one that you would want to visit." he told IGN, and I'd have to say they succeeded. Watching the trailer again, it's hard to believe it's the same game. Verdant greens, searing reds, and pulsing blues are present throughout, lending a sense of the fantastical to the characters and environments. It's altogether more vibrant than Resistance, and unmistakable for any other game in the genre.
