League of Legends is one of the most popular games in the world. With more than 70 million registered users logging over a billion hours of play every month, the free-to-play game has become an absolute phenomenon, both for casual and hardcore players.

This year, Riot took the competitive potential of the game into their own hands. In an effort to emulate traditional sports leagues, Riot has been hosting the League of Legends Championship Series, or LCS, since February.

The LCS was initially created because the League of Legends community wanted Riot to focus more on competitive gaming, or eSports. As a player-driven company, they were motivated to bring their fans the best pro-gaming production possible. The result is the LCS.
