At D23 today, John Lasseter surprised those attending the panel on Disney's upcoming film animation slate with an advance look at the upcoming TV special, Toy Story OF TERROR. Airing on October 16th, Toy Story OF TERROR is the first of a couple half hour TV specials planned for the Toy Story characters and we were actually shown the first ten minutes today.
Toy Story fans will be happy to learn this looks like a worthy addition to the franchise, which has continued as shorts since the movie trilogy concluded. Toy Story OF TERROR begins with our toy heroes (well, most of them, as Hamm, Slinky Dog and Mrs. Potato Head apparently were left at home by Bonnie this time) in the trunk of a car, as Bonnie and her mom travel along the road on a dark and stormy night. The toys watching an old black and white vampire movie on a laptop sets the stage for them to be on edge when it seems they are trapped in a real life horror scenario, after Bonnie's mom stops at an old motel for the night.
