Pacific Rim Bigger Than Avengers (in China) Aug 19th 2013, 18:16, by Max Nicholson Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim passed $100 million in China this weekend, marking its third consecutive weekend in the No. 1 box office spot with $13 million. The Wrap reports that Legendary and Warner Bros.' tentpole earned over $20 million in international sales this weekend. This adds up to a total of $286 million overseas and almost $385 million worldwide. Pacific Rim is only the second movie this year to hit the $100 million mark in China. The first was Disney's Iron Man 3, which has made about $120 million since it opened there in June. As Warners' top-grossing film in China, the robots vs. monsters movie broke two chart records this weekend, passing The Avengers ($84 million) and Kung Fu Panda 2 ($92 million). Continue reading…
