The "best in the world", CM Punk is going into SummerSlam Sunday with a match against Brock Lesnar that involves Paul Heyman – a man whose history with Punk goes back many years, behind-the-scenes, helping set the stage for the current storyline in which Heyman has betrayed the man he helped cultivate in the WWE.
At WWE's SummerSlam press conference this week, I spoke to Punk about his upcoming match, the rise of less traditional main eventers like Punk and Daniel Bryan and more.
IGN TV: Going into this match, your real life history with Paul, does that fuel the scenario and make things more exciting for you?
CM Punk: Oh yeah, absolutely. It makes it easier in a big way, but it also 100 percent makes it better.
