Poor Deputy Stokes. All he wanted was to be a part of the team and to be acknowledged, even if he was oblivious to how little the team wanted him. And he had just had his braces removed! Better yet, he had some epiphany about the case that he had absolutely nothing to do with, as much as he might have wished otherwise. But sadly he didn't get to enjoy his big day for very long, and after a few appearances where he looked like a decent suspect - alternately creeping out or simply annoying everyone around him - it feels safe to finally clear his name.

I really appreciate that The Bridge isn't playing the "red herring" game here. Stokes was one of the most obvious candidates, showing up at important crime scenes or manhunts without being asked while being so awkward even Cross noticed, and now that's been wrapped up in decisive fashion. It really seemed like he had something important to say at the end, too – maybe he left whatever his hunch was on a post-it somewhere? But in the larger picture for the show it looks like when the killer is revealed it won't be someone we've seen a lot of, if at all, and that suits me just fine. I'm much more interested in the characters we're getting to know better each week than the killer's identity.
