Nikita: "Brave New World" Review

While I've enjoyed Season 3's 'Dirty 30" episodes on an individual basis, I was just about to tire of the procedural nature of Season 3 as a whole, so "Brave New World" came just in the nick of time to deliver a more mythological feel. Percy's legacy loomed large in an hour concerned with the use and abuse of power, and how easy it is to blur the lines of morality in the name of the greater good.

Nikita's quest to restore Michael's hand was in many ways selfish. Of course she loves him and wants him to feel whole again, but she is also tortured by the memories of cutting it off and cauterizing the wound, and misses the feel of it on her body. The idea of regenerating a hand for Michael seems like science fiction even to our heroes, and I loved the conversations about "reality" verses "Spy-fi" between Nikita and Birkhoff, and later the more in depth discussion she had with Hiedecker about science, government and morality. This episode reminded me of The X-Files and Alias in the very best ways.
