Remember trading cards? These days comic readers have their video games and big-budget movies and fancy, 80-jointed action figures for when they feel like expanding their love of superheroes into other media. But there was a time when trading cards were the hot new way to show off your love of Marvel and DC's characters and scratching that collecting itch to boot.
With Marvel bringing back chromium variant covers this year, why not trading cards too? Today the publisher announced a new promotion timed with the release of Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven's new Guardians of the Galaxy series. They've produced a set of six cards featuring McNiven's character designs. These cards will only be available from comic shops that are holding a midnight launch party for Guardians of the Galaxy #1.
