Green Lantern: The Animated Series - "Babel" Review

Let's recap what's happened in the past couple of Green Lantern episodes. Aya sacrificed herself to save the Interceptor crew, only to come back in the tattered body of a Manhunter. The Anti-Monitor obliterated the Red Lantern Corps and killed one of the Guardians. Razer spurned Aya's love once and for all, causing a rapid onset of robo-psychosis and leading Aya to assimilate the Anti-Monitor's body and take control of the Manhunters.

Given all of that, I can't say I expected the follow-up to the Loss/Cold Fury duology to be a light-hearted, comedic romp. "Babel" was a bit of a strange beast that way. After several episodes in a row marked by bleakness and tragic developments, it really was nice to have a palate-cleanser that focused on the lighter side of being a Green Lantern. But it also felt very oddly placed given its light tone. It was a little hard to believe that Hal, Kilowog, and especially Razer would be so jovial in light of recent events. Ultimately, fans had the option of either dwelling on those thoughts or brushing them aside and enjoying "Babel" for what it offered.
