Spoilers for all of Death of the Family within. You've been warned.
If you're a Gotham City resident, you've no doubt experienced the gripping fear that Joker is able to bring by his mere presence. But not since the era of The Killing Joke and Death in the Family has one of the Joker's attacks felt so personal and invasive of Batman's world; Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Death of the Family -- which concluded in this week's Batman #17 -- saw a deranged Clown Prince of Crime gunning for each and every member of the Bat-family, their secret identities apparently revealed.
In the concluding chapter, which we awarded a perfect 10 score, Snyder and Capullo managed to shock and disturb us, but instead of doing something as bland and elementary as simply killing a character, the Joker got the last laugh and cracked the foundation of trust that Bruce Wayne has worked so hard to establish with his allies.
